Lenovo Unveils Ideapad S12 With Intel ION Platform

Lenovo kicked out their first 12-inch netbook today, the Ideapad S12, and fittingly it is the first of its type to sport NVIDIA’s ION platform.  In short, the NVIDIA ION platform combines an Intel Atom processor with a relatively high powered graphics card, the Nvidia 9400m.  This means HD playback along with other computing feats not previously seen in a netbook.  And the real kicker is that Lenovo is offering it for a sub $500 price tag.  Other features include a full sized keyboard, 12.1-inch (1280×800) LCD, 160 – 320GB HDD, 1GB of RAM, WiFi a/g/n, HDMI output, 4-in-1 media card reader, XP Home, 3x USB, Bluetooth and the option of a 3-cell or 6-cell battery. The Lenovo Ideapad S12 will ship sometime this July, while the ION platform is due ‘late summer’.
