HP Mini 1000 Specs, Price And Availability Get Real

This past weekend HP slipped up and inadvertently placedn a HP Mini 1000 teaser ad on their shopping home page.  Today, they officially unveiled all it’s specs, pricing and availability.

So what are we looking at?  There will be 2 core versions: 10.2-inch and 8.9-inch.  Additionally, they’ll be 3 different styles (MIE, Vivienne Tam, and XP) to choose from – more about those later.  They’ll be powered by an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, Intel GMA 950 video card and you’ll be online thanks to the built-in WiFi b/g or Ethernet, but expect a 3G embedded version sometime this December.  RAM maxes out at 1GB and hard drive size is available in an 8GB or 16GB SSD, or 60GB spinner.  You can also choose between 3 different sized integrated thumb drives (2,4, and 8GB) that apparently fit seamlessly into the body of the machine.  For more juice you can add an optional 6-cell battery.  HP has also squeezed in a keyboard that is 92% the size of a normal laptop, plus a webcam for Internet video.
